American Lung Association. The mission of the American Lung Association is to prevent lung disease and promote lung health.  The American Lung Association is the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States, with a National Office and constituent and affiliate associations around the country.  Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, the American Lung Association today fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control, and environmental health.  The American Lung Association is funded by contributions from the public, along with gifts and grants from corporations, foundations and government agencies.  The American Lung Association achieves its many successes through the work of thousands of committed volunteers and staff.

Association of Online Cancer Resources.  The free online lifeline for everyone affected by cancer and related disorders.

CancerCare.  CancerCare is a national non-profit organization that provides free professional support services to anyone affected by cancer: people with cancer, caregivers, children, loved ones, and the bereaved.  CancerCare programs—including counseling, education, financial assistance and practical help—are provided by trained oncology social workers and are completely free of charge.

cancerfacts.com.  This online resource for cancer patients, their families, and caregivers is dedicated to delivering accurate and personalized information at a time of need.  The NexProfiler™ Tools for Cancer help people with cancer make informed treatment decisions for an optimal outcome.

Cancer Free Connections.  Cancer Free Connections is a directory of links to life saving resources for people seeking to become cancer-free: 800 success stories, 100 treatment centers, 30 wellness centers, 100 books and tapes, and over 500 links.

CancerGuide.  CancerGuide will help you to understand your options as deeply as you want to or need to.  This includes delving into the latest technical medical literature on your disease.  Although it may be difficult, when you are fighting your life you can learn to understand things considered by some to be too difficult for laymen, so nothing here is dumbed down.  I hope the serious effort it takes to gain a real understanding will pay off for you as it did for me.

Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America.  The Mesothelioma Research Foundation of America has a mission: fund research that will lead to the quickest cure for mesothelioma.  Since the year 2001, the foundation has funded the opening of the Mesothelioma Laboratory under the supervision of Dr. Gill at the USC/Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center in Los Angeles.  In the process, Dr. Gill (a board certified oncologist and hematologist) has received FDA approval from the U.S. Government to do Phase I Clinical Trials on a new mesothelioma treatment drug called Veglin, whose research was 100% funded by the foundation.  It proved successful in Phase I and Phase II of the clinical trials for Veglin began July 30th, 2004.

Taking the Fear Out of Cancer.  Taking the Fear Out of Cancer provides cancer awareness, education, resources and encouragement.  Taking the Fear Out of Cancer is dedicated to cancering with a proactive approach!  Their goal is to take the fear out of a cancer diagnosis by: providing cancer awareness and education to those who do not have cancer, offering cancer information and resources to those who do have cancer, and encouraging people to take an active role in their cancer experience.

The Cancer Information Network.  A physician-guided site for cancer patients, their families, and caregivers.  The diagnosis of cancer brings with it many questions and a need for clear, understandable answers.  We hope this website will help.  It provides information and useful internet links about different types of malignancy.

The Cancer Survivors Network.  The American Cancer Society has developed the Cancer Survivors Network to help assist you during this difficult time. Highlights include:  A Resource Library, Assistance locating Community Resources, a place to share your personal experiences with others, and free literature on coping with grief and life after cancer.

The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation.  The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF) was formed in late 1999 to restore hope and end the misery for mesothelioma patients and their families. Our mission is to eradicate mesothelioma as a life-ending disease through research, education and awareness.  We accomplish this by collaborating with doctors, scientists, asbestos trial lawyers and manufacturers, labor unions, drug companies, the Government, and mesothelioma patients and family members themselves.  These parties may be divided on various issues, but one thing is certain: patients diagnosed with this terrible tumor will not have a realistic hope for a cure until we commit the research money necessary to find a cure.
